KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It’s a sure sign that summer is coming.
Kalamazoo city commissioners will take up requests for permits at Kalamazoo Growlers’ games and the 4th of July display at the Kalamazoo Country Club tonight.
The board will also consider for first-reading an ordinance change that would permit public safety to impound cars that are involved in the so-called “X-Train,” or what the department calls mobile nuisance parties. The convoys of cars have been racing around the North Side for years on weekends during the warmer months, clogging traffic, endangering lives and causing property damage.
In the past, officers have impounded vehicles on the spot. The ordinance amendment would permit officers to track down repeat offenders after the party is over and tow their cars from driveways and parking lots.
