PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Linda Stermer has been found guilty of two counts of murder in the death of her husband, Todd Stermer, in 2007.
The jury deliberated for less than seven-hours before returning the verdict Friday, and she will be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Stermer was convicted in 2010 and sentenced to life in prison for killing him, but a federal appeals court overturned her conviction, ruling defense attorney Jeff Getting, who is now the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor, didn’t consult an expert to rebut testimony that the fire she set was arson.
Todd Stermer had said he wanted to divorce her before he was killed after learning she was having an affair.
