KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Consumers Energy says it is upgrading and installing new natural gas distribution pipelines along key corridors in Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties, in an effort to enhance the safety, reliability and capacity of the natural gas system in the region.
Among the projects is the installation of a new natural gas distribution pipeline in Oshtemo Township and the City of Kalamazoo along the south side of M-43/West Main from US-131 to Drake Road and the north side of M-43 from Drake Road to Kendall Avenue.
That work will run from early April through late August, with single-lane traffic shifts, but no full road closures.
Consumers Energy’s Stadium Drive Project will include the installation of a new natural gas distribution pipeline in Oshtemo and Texas Townships in Kalamazoo County and Antwerp Township in Van Buren County. That will be on the south side of Stadium Drive from 9th Street to Main Street in Mattawan from early April through November.
Minimal traffic disruptions are expected, with single-lane traffic shifts and no full closures.
