BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Battle Creek Police Thursday afternoon arrested a 35-year-old Battle Creek man after a large fight and shots fired on West Michigan Avenue.
Officers responded to the 300 block of West Michigan Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on reports of a large fight involving an estimated 60 individuals. While enroute to the scene, dispatch provided an update to officers that shots had reportedly been fired at the scene.
When they arrived, police interviewed witnesses that said the suspect who fired the gun had fled the scene. No injuries were reported at the scene.
Additional responding officers quickly located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Police were able to detain the suspect and located a firearm in the vehicle.
The suspect was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on several weapon offenses, including carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, and reckless discharge.
