LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The February Retail Sales Index in Michigan took a nosedive compared to January.
The Michigan Retailers Association says their 100-point Retail Index for the month came in at 41.5 compared to 62.2 in January and it was the first month it was below 50 since September.
MRA CEO William Hallan says January’s index score was the highest they had seen in over a year and February “sounds the alarm that Michigan’s retailers are deeply feeling the impacts of the current economic uncertainty that our country is facing.”
He says the tariff threats with Canada, Mexico, China, and Europe are creating the unstable environment.
