KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Schools 7th and 9th graders will heading for college this week, to get a flavor for life on campus, and an education on what it takes to go on to higher education.
The Kalamazoo Valley Community College Cougars Rising program will welcome middle schoolers today. Western Michigan University will host ninth graders on Wednesday and Thursday for the renewal of the Bronco Buds program.
KPS Coordinator Tracy Miller says they will engage with college students, faculty, admissions and financial aid staff.
“These visits foster connections between students and colleges and show students how they should be preparing academically, behaviorally, and mentally for future career and college pathways,” she says.
It is the resumption of programs that were suspended by the COVID-19 pandemic.
