LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan House has approved a bill to lower income taxes to 4.05% from the current 4.25%.
The bill would restore the tax rate that was in place for 2023 after the General Fund revenue grew faster than inflation and says the cut will be permanent.
In 2024, the income tax rate went back up after an opinion was issued by Attorney General Dana Nessel.
Majority Floor Leader Bryan Posthumus of Rockford said the state does not need more revenue, but less government.
