BIRMINGHAM, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Congresswoman Haley Stevens says she is eyeing a run for the U.S. Senate from Michigan in 2026.
The 41-year-old Stevens told CNN’s State of the Union she is considering running for the seat currently held by Senator Gary Peters, who has announced he will not seek reelection.
Stevens has served Michigan’s 11th Congressional district since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, Stevens represents most of urbanized Oakland County, including many of Detroit’s northern suburbs.
She says President Trump and Elon Musk are “wreaking havoc on our government” and added Michigan manufacturers are frozen from the tariff battle with Canada. Stevens says the potential cancellation of the federal CHIPS and Science Act could put the state into a recession.
