ALBION, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An 18-year-old Kalamazoo man is in custody, after leading police on a high speed chase on I-94 in Calhoun County early Saturday morning.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling westbound on I-94 near Albion at speeds exceeding 126 miles per hour. The driver refused to stop and led deputies on a high-speed pursuit, reaching speeds over 150 miles per hour.
The pursuit ended safely on 24 Mile Road near H Drive N in Marengo Township, where deputies apprehended the suspect without incident or injury.
During the investigation, deputies discovered fraudulent and fictitious driver’s licenses in the suspect’s possession. The Kalamazoo man was arrested and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the incident by the Albion Department of Public Safety.
