KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It took Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety crews about a half-hour to get a fire at a home under control Wednesday night.
They were called to the 900 block of Southworth Terrace for the fire around 9 p.m. and found the gazebo on the back of the home was fully engulfed in flames. The fire had already penetrated into the home.
The stairwell had been destroyed by the fire, and KDPS had to use ladders from outside to reach the second floor to put out the flames.
Fire crews stayed on the scene to put out hot spots and search for any extension of the fire into the attic space.
No one was hurt.
