BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Two persons had to be rescued early Tuesday morning when a fire which caused nearly $1-point-1 million in damage broke out at the Arbors of Battle Creek apartment complex on Rambling Road.
While there were no injuries reported, one person was evaluated for smoke inhalation on the scene and was released. A was found deceased, as a result of the fire.
The fire was reported at about 12:45 a.m.. There were reports of multiple victims trapped and jumping from windows.
The two persons rescued were trapped inside their apartments and hanging from windows on the second and third floors.
Ground ladders were used to perform the rescues before firefighters went after the blaze. The fire was found on the second floor.
No additional fire victims were found after a search of the building. The cause of the fire is being listed as undetermined.
Battle Creek firefighters were assisted by LifeCare Ambulance and with crowd control by the Battle Creek Police Department.
