KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Kalamazoo has announced that that major Kalamazoo Avenue facelift, as part of the downtown “Streets For All” project, has been delayed a year, but there will still be a few orange cones to navigate around this year.
The repaving of Westnedge from Vine to Michigan is still planned, but Public Works director James Baker says it will be less disruptive than work that took place on Westnedge last year.
Audio PlayerOne project that could completely close Westnedge between Kalamazoo and Michigan would be the replacement of a water main and a sanitary line that carries Arcadia Creek under the roadway.
Baker says right now that is also delayed by paperwork.
Audio PlayerThey will be installing water main on West Main Street from US 131 to Drake Road and doing three small sewer projects in the Vine neighborhood.
Baker says they will also be replacing 1300 lead service lines in parts of the Edison neighborhood and fixing the deck on the Gull Road bridge.
