KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 6-4 home win Friday night gave the Western Michigan University men’s hockey team something that has eluded them throughout the programs stories history, and that is a regular season conference title.
They accomplished that Friday night with the win over North Dakota at Lawson Arena, win the conference Penrose Cup.
In the win, WMU got goals from Matteo Costantini, Grant Slukynsky, Alex Bump, Iiro Hakkarainen, Tim Washe and Samuel Sjolund. Hampton Slukynsky earned his ninth win of the season in net.
The Broncos are now 24-6-1 overall and 17-3-1 in the NCHC
Western Michigan and North Dakota will conclude their series Saturday night at 6:0 p.m.
