WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) – Freshman U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan will give the Democratic response to President Trump’s joint address to Congress next Tuesday.
Slotkin barely edged out Republican former Congressman Mike Rogers in the November election to succeed Senator Debbie Stabenow.
Trump will speak to a joint session of Congress for the fifth time next Tuesday, but the speech is not technically a State of the Union address.
Slotkin says she is “looking forward to speaking directly to the American people,” adding people expect leaders “to level with them on what’s actually happening in our country.”
The comment about” her barley edging out Mike Rogers” is unnecessary to this story. The story is about something positive for her but you seem to feel the need to throw in something negative. News reporters are supposed to be none partisan.
