KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The U.S. Department of Justice says a 44-year-old man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for being a multi-state drug trafficking “kingpin.”
Jason Demyers dealt kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine in Kalamazoo, Detroit, and Lansing from August 2022 to July 2024.
Investigators seized around 10 kilograms of meth, 8 kilograms of cocaine, property used for the drug trafficking conspiracy, and jewelry valued at around $325,000.
Demyers worked with couriers who flew from Michigan to California with thousands of dollars in drug sale profits and flew back to Michigan with more illegal drugs.
He is among 14 people that were charged, and 12 have pled guilty and two have entered a “pretrial diversion program” to promote rehab.
Of those sentenced so far, Demyers and Franchot Barnes have received the longest sentences at 27 years, while Jomo Grady was sentenced to 17.5 years. Others will be sentenced in May and June.
