LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the state of our state remains strong. She delivered her 7th State of the State Address Wednesday night before a joint session of the Michigan House and Senate.
Whitmer called on state government leaders to be fiscally responsible, specifically mentioning Republican House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland.

Whitmer remains focused on “fixing the damn roads.”

Audio PlayerWhitmer and Speaker Hall have each put a plan forward for putting more money into the roads. Hers calls for taxing marijuana like the state taxes cigarettes to bring in more revenue.
The governor called for making permitting make sense and asked for a bipartisan bill to enact restrictions on cell phone usage in schools.
