KEELER TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 27-year-old man from the Pullman area is in the Van Buren County Jail for allegedly driving while intoxicated with two young children in his car.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to County Road 687 in Keeler Township on a report of someone hearing a man screaming just before 2 Friday morning.
They found a vehicle off the road and a noticed he was slumped over the steering wheel. Deputies woke him up after several attempts and saw the three and five-year-old kids in the backseat.
He told them he had to break one of the windows because he had lost his keys and wind chills were hovering around zero degrees at the time.
Deputies determined the man was intoxicated and arrested him, while the children were taken to the sheriff’s office for family members to pick them up.
The Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office has received the report on the arrest, and Child Protective Services is also involved.
