LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – -Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is joining the Federal Trade Commission and four other state attorneys general as they sue Deere & Company for being an unlawful monopoly.
The lawsuit accuses the company of monopolizing key segments of the agricultural equipment market and not competing fairly. It also says Deere is restricting farmers and independent repair providers from making repairs on the equipment, making them rely on their authorized dealers for that work.
The Michigan Farmers Union supports the lawsuit, saying “wealthy corporations shouldn’t be able to control where and how farmers can repair their equipment while creating unnecessary costs and headaches across farm country.”
