LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland is reacting to Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s $3 billion plan to fix Michigan roads.
He says what was put forward this week is a big improvement from where she started.
Audio PlayerHall put out a plan to put $3.1 billion into the roads without raising taxes.
Audio PlayerWhitmer’s Mi Road Ahead Plan would put “every penny drivers pay at the pump” in gas taxes into the roads, compared to 75% of the taxes being spent on infrastructure now.
She also wants to tax marijuana the same as cigarettes and put at least some of that into roads, as the state’s cannabis tax is the fourth-lowest in the U.S.
Hall joined WKZO Mornings with Ken Lanphear to make his comments.
