KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A new student organization at Western Michigan University says it’s dedicated to combat food insecurity among students.
Feeding Broncos officially launched in January 2025 with the goal to ensure that no WMU student has to face the challenges of hunger while pursuing their education.
“We are committed to fighting food insecurity by providing free dinners to our peers at Western Michigan University. Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive community where every student can access healthy meals, enabling them to focus on their studies without the burden of hunger,” said Courtney Hubert-Tortorelli, WMU Senior and President of Feeding Broncos.
Free dinners are served every Monday and Thursday from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Dialog Room located on the lower level of Kanley Memorial Chapel. The organization actively shares menu options in advance through its Instagram page www.instagram.com/feedingbroncos and on Experience WMU, ensuring students know what delicious meals await them.
Feeding Broncos has also launched a membership drive aimed at enrolling WMU students. Membership levels are set at $20 (Bronze), $25 (Silver), and $30 (Gold), with members receiving a complimentary garment, ranging from t-shirts to hoodies.
A GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $10,000 has also been launched. Funds will be used to purchase food and supplies for the remainder of the Winter 2025 semester. Donations can also be sent to Feeding Broncos, P.O. Box 2632, Kalamazoo, MI 49003.
