Report: Genesee County Sheriff entering Governor’s race

FLINT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson is expected to announce he is seeking the Democratic nomination for governor in 2026.

Lansing-based MIRS News says Swanson will make the announcement tomorrow in Flint.

He would become the second Democrat to announce they are seeking the office after Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson made the move last month.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan is running for governor as an independent, and former Attorney General Mike Cox and Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt are seeking the Republican nomination.
