LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II will not enter the Democratic race for the U.S. Senate.
The Detroit News reports Gilchrist will, however, explore running for governor in 2026 when Governor Whitmer’s term ends.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is currently the only Democrat who has officially entered the race for governor. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan is running as an independent, and Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt and former Attorney General Mike Cox are running for the Republican nomination.
