DETROIT, MI — General Motors says it will spiff hourly employees with bonus checks larger than any it has ever given out.
The Detroit automaker, which took in a record amount of profit in 2024, says GM hourly employees will earn $14,500 per person, which according to GM is equal to more than two months pay for the average United Auto Worker (UAW) member. The automaker in announcing its fourth quarter and year end 2024 profits today also hinted at big bonus checks for salaried employees.
GM, which reported that its fourth-quarter adjusted pretax profit soared 43% to $2.5 billion when compared with the same period in 2023, has about 48,000 employees eligible for the profit sharing-checks.
The automaker has thousands of employees across the mid-Michigan area at Lansing Grand River and Delta Township production facilities.
