LANSING, MI — Saddleback Restaurant Group officials say they will acquire Coach’s Pub and Grill in a deal set to be completed by early February.
Saddleback posted the following statement on it’s Facebook page. Here it is reprinted in its entirety:
“For 9+ years we’ve been striving to bring the Lansing community exceptional experiences. Now we have the ability to offer even more unique experiences. Through Coach’s great food, service, and volleyball league.
While we will now have three unique concepts under our umbrella this diversity will enhance our business. By sharing our expertise between staff, combining resources to combat rising prices, and granting more opportunities for employees.
We understand that Coach’s is a different restaurant concept and will be mindful about keeping and improving Coach’s strengths, rather than making it a new Saddleback.
What Stays the Same
– The Name You Trust: Coach’s Pub and Grill will remain Coach’s.
– The Team You Know: Your favorite servers and cooks are staying.
– The Food You Love: No drastic menu changes — Keeping all your favorite items.
What Changes
We are not in a rush to make changes, we want to learn about Coach’s before we do anything. They’ve built a great restaurant and we just want to help continue its growth. With that said, we’ve talked to Jim and identified some great improvements to begin with:
– Continuing to Improve the Volleyball Experience: Coach’s boasts the best sand volleyball facility in the Mid Michigan area, and we are committed to making even greater improvements for the players.
– Upgraded Facilities: We’re investing in better parking, fresh paint, and improving tables/chairs/plating where necessary.
– Creativity and Evolving Menu Items: Offering loyal customers something new to try while keeping the staples of the menu the same, utilizing Saddleback’s smokers to bring unique specials and menu items.
Coach’s Pub & Grill has been a cornerstone of Delhi Township for over 22 years. Founded by Dennis Shumway as a neighborhood sports pub, it quickly became a go-to destination for locals. For 16 years, Dennis carried the torch solo. But Dennis always had a vision for growth, and six years ago, he brought in Jim MacQueen to help elevate the Pub to new heights.
Since then, Jim has transformed Coach’s into the area’s most popular neighborhood sports bar. By revamping the interior and refining the menu, he created a space where families can gather, enjoy great food, and watch the game.
As Jim continued to build on this foundation, he realized that to take Coach’s to the next level, he needed a partner who shared his vision. That’s when he reached out to Matt.
Jim and Matt have known each other for over 9 years, having first met during the early days of Saddleback. They quickly became close friends, bonding over their shared passion for the food industry. Over the years, their friendship deepened as they exchanged advice and ideas.
So, when Jim decided to bring in a partner to help elevate Coach’s, Matt was his first call. Together they’ve been laying the groundwork for the future of Coach’s.
We’re in the final stages of closing the deal and expect Saddleback Restaurant Group to take full ownership of Coach’s in early February. We’re looking forward to beginning our work with the Coach’s team to bring you some incredible experience.
Stay tuned for more updates soon.
Thank you, Lansing!
