KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Township board of trustees will vote tonight on a proposed ordinance that would ban township resources from being used by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officers unless previously approved by township officials.
Township Supervisor David Combs says they have been asked by Kalamazoo Central High School administrators about if they should expect township police to attempt to enter the high school for immigration enforcement purposes, and says they deserve an answer.
The proposed ordinance says “personnel shall not provide Township data or information that can be used to determine or trace a person’s citizenship or Immigration Status to a Township contractor unless the contractor first agrees in writing to prohibit the contractor’s employees and subcontractors from providing that data or information to an Immigration Agent, to the extent permitted by law.”
