KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Schools is postponing the safety and security meeting that was scheduled for tonight at 6 p.m. at Loy Norrix High School.
The district has called off school today due to the frigid arctic air that has settled in over the state.
The meeting will be rescheduled.
Superintendent Dr. Darrin Slade is planning to discuss adding metal detectors at the entrances of Kalamazoo Central and Loy Norrix high schools along with the district’s middle schools.
Those are already being used for athletic events.
Slade says he wants to have the discussion with the community before any decision is made.
A public meeting is still scheduled for next Tuesday, January 28, at Maple Street Middle School and on February 10 at Kalamazoo Central High School.
Every meeting will start at 6 p.m.
