KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for the entire state of Michigan until Wednesday.
Wind chill readings are expected to be between ten and 25-degrees below zero.
An extreme cold warning is in effect for the western portion of the Upper Peninsula, with wind chills expected to drop to as cold as 34-degrees below zero.
Along the Lake Michigan shore, lake effect snow is expected to result in eight-to-12-inches between now and Wednesday morning. That includes western Kalamazoo County along with all the lakeshore counties.
Grand Rapids is forecasted to get four-to-eight-inches of lake effect snow, and Lansing could get up to four-inches of lake effect snow.
The coldest air that has hit the area since January 2019 has settled in. The high temperatures in the Kalamazoo area are only expected to be in the single digits today and Tuesday.
