DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the future of the entire auto industry is currently at stake and “the very core of Michigan’s economy is on the line.”
She delivered her “Road Ahead” address yesterday at the Detroit Auto Show, calling for updates to the state’s economic tool kit and finding new and fair sources of revenue to fix Michigan’s roads.
Whitmer also said she is not opposed to tariffs, but says they can’t be treated as “a one size fits all solution, and we certainly shouldn’t use them to punish our closest trading partners.”
President-elect Trump is threatening 25-percent tariffs on everything coming into the U.S. from Canada and Mexico.
