LAWTON, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The 2026 race for governor in Michigan has its second candidate.
State Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt of Lawton has announced he is seeking the Republican nomination for the office.
He joined WKZO’s Kalamazoo Mornings with Ken Lanphear to talk about why he’s starting to run in January 2025.
Nesbitt and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan are the only candidates to announce so far.
Duggan is running as an independent and not as a Democrat, saying he believes that is the best option to help unite people in the state.
