KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Kalamazoo will receive $2.57 million from the federal government to remove duplicate railroad crossings in the downtown area.
It is funded through the Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program and will help reduce delays, improve safety, and streamline the flow of traffic for Kalamazoo residents.
Officials say it will mean fewer disruptions in people’s daily life as commuters will have quicker and safer travel though the city and emergency vehicles will have more efficient routes to respond to critical situations.
By eliminating dangerous and redundant crossings, the project will reduce risks for pedestrians and drivers alike, improving safety and quality of life for everyone. This investment also supports local businesses by ensuring the smooth transport of goods, bolstering Kalamazoo’s economic vitality.
