KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The “Help Wanted” sign is up at the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
They are accepting applications through 11:59 p.m. on January 29 for public safety officers.
To qualify, you need to be a U.S. citizen, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license, and be 21-years-old by December of 2025.
The department says they are seeking candidates “with integrity, a strong work ethic, and a desire to serve the Kalamazoo community.”
Applicants do not need prior police, fire, or medical first responder certifications to be considered for a job as that training is provided.
KDPS does offer a lateral transfer incentive for current police officers who are either MCOLES certified or certifiable along with fulltime firefighter and medical first responders. Qualified lateral transfers will also receive a $15,000 hiring bonus.
