KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Loy Norrix High School boys and girls basketball teams got to see how the professionals do it, attending a Detroit Pistons game last night.
Superintendent Dr. Darrin Slade says its one of a number of “out of school” learning activities he hopes to have students participate in this year.
He says Lincoln students recently visited the State Fish Hatchery in Van Buren County and Northglade students visited the state Capitol.
Dr. Slade says students with an interest in the trades have been to KRESA Career Connect events at the Air Zoo and the Expo Center.
In coming months, middle school students will get to see firsthand what college life is like at Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
Dr. Slade says says two students from each elementary school will be picked to attend a performance of the Lion King at Miller Auditorium.
Student government leaders from the high schools visited the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago last year. Slade says they haven’t decided where they will be going this year.
