KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A fire at Kalamazoo Loy Norrix High School late morning Tuesday caused the evacuation of students and staff.
The fire was in a storage area in the B-Wing of the high school on Kilgore Road. KPS officials say the school was immediately evacuated and the fire was extinguished immediately.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said a 911 call came in around 11:12 a.m., but school staff had the fire out before emergency crews arrived.
Kalamazoo Public Schools chief of marketing and communications Susan Coney said, “No injuries were reported. The fire safety officer on site permitted students to return to the building to continue school. Classes have resumed as normal.”
