BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Battle Creek firefighters responded to a house fire at 53 Lark Street just after 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.
The single family home was flames engulfing the first floor when firefighters arrived and the fire quickly spread to the second floor.
Crews had to fight the fire from outside the home due to the “significant volume of fire,” and they say the stability of both floors was compromised.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The residents of the home were able to escape safely, but their pets were killed in the fire.
The property damage estimate is $120,000, with $70,000 of contents also destroyed.
