KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – With the deadline looming, Kalamazoo city commissioners will take final action on how they obligate remaining American Rescue Plan Act funding tonight, making sure they have met all federal requirements.
The city has until the end of the month to officially assign how the money granted to cities in the post-pandemic ARPA cash will be spent. They still have two years to spend it.
Finance director Stephen Vicenzi says tonight’s action will just make sure they meet federal specifications.
He says they were able to squeeze a little extra out of their grant.
The Kalamazoo County board is expected to take the same action tomorrow night to make sure they have touched all the bases, too.
