ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A west Michigan man will spend between 19 and 40-years in prison for seriously injuring an Allegan County Sheriff’s deputy in an attack in September 2023.
Thirty-seven-year-old Christopher Gerou of Dorr was sentenced yesterday and Deputy Dillon Kibby spoke at the hearing about the crime.
Kibby said in court that his skull fractured when Gerou hit him in the head and neck while he was trying to arrest him for drunk driving and his skull filled with blood as he lay unconscious.
A Michigan State Police trooper who was on scene said in court documents that Gerou said he hoped the deputy was dead and was singing the song “I Shot the Sheriff.”
