KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo officials say crews are making headway today on clearing the city’s streets and major thoroughfares.
Public Works and Water and Wastewater staff, along with members of the City of Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation Department, have been working together to provide continuous 24/7 plow coverage of city streets, facilities, and sidewalks.
Officials says city crews are working in opposing 12-hour shifts and are keeping a minimum of 10 plow trucks on the streets at all times, 24/7.
Crews are also working together to plow the city’s cemeteries, parks, and city facilities as well as 33.5 miles of city sidewalks, 14.1 miles of which are to be performed by staff from Santiago Services.
Public Services plans to have all local streets, dead ends, cul-de-sacs, and sidewalks completed by Sunday morning, depending on snowfall intensity rates into Friday.
