LANSING, MI — As the areas largest road construction project comes to a close for this year, the Michigan Depart. of Transportations says there will be intermittent closures of the eastbound I-496 ramp to southbound US-127 Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily on Thursday and Friday. The work will include pavement markings and barrier wall removal to prepare for the opening of southbound US-127.
This work is part of the $205 million investment to rebuild of US-127/I-496 from I-96 to I-496 that is addressing safety concerns, improving roadway geometrics, and improving traffic flow. Work on the project for this year is scheduled to conclude on Friday. Construction to replace the NB lanes of US-127 will commence in March 2025.
Motorists should expect delays the next several days and are advised to seek alternate routes and follow the posted detours.
