BENTON HARBOR, MI (WHTC/WKZO) – Weather permitting, supporters and opponents of nuclear power will converge in Benton Harbor on Wednesday evening (Dec. 4, 2024).
Officials of Holtec International will be on hand to discuss the ongoing efforts to restart the Palisades nuclear power plant, including how the company plans to use innovative new equipment to make the facility more efficient. It had been shut down two years ago, and Holtec is looking at a late 2025 restart.
The 20th State Senate District of Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt of Lawton includes the Covert area where Palisades is located.
The 5-7 PM open house, the second held by Holtec this year, will be at the Palisades Joint Information Center (330 W. Main St.).
