KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Temperatures won’t dip nearly low enough this week for the city to set up extra emergency warming shelters for the homeless this week, but Kalamazoo City Manager Jim Ritsema says plans are in place should the need arise this winter.
He says if additional sites are added, they will be announced when dangerously low temperatures are forecast.
City commissioner Qianna Decker thinks it may be time to revisit the city policy on when a cold emergency is declared.
She has also asked the city attorney for a report on if that can be changed by the commission.
