KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Western Michigan University football team has accepted an invitation to play in the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl against South Alabama at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.
The game will kick off the bowl season Saturday, December 14 at 9:00 p.m.
Western Michigan finished off the 2024 regular season with a 26-18 win over rival Eastern Michigan to earn bowl eligibility with its sixth win of the season. The Broncos also finished with a 5-3 record in conference play, its most MAC wins since the 2019 season and had the top scoring offense in the league.
“We are excited for the opportunity to compete in Montgomery, Alabama in the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl.,” said second-year head coach Lance Taylor. “This is a great opportunity for our football program and our university. South Alabama is a well-coached, physical team that will be a great test for our team. This is the 12th bowl game in school history and we are thrilled to represent Bronco Nation and WMU in this awesome bowl game!”
The IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl is the first-ever matchup between Western Michigan and South Alabama. The Jaguars also finished 6-6 overall and had a 5-3 record in the Sun Belt Conference’s West Division.
This is the 12th bowl trip in Western Michigan’s history, with the most recent being the Quick Lane Bowl in 2021 at Ford Field in Detroit against Nevada. The Broncos beat the Wolfpack 52-24 for the program’s second-ever bowl win.
The IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl, formerly known as the Camellia Bowl, is in its 11th year and has traditionally pitted the MAC against the Sunbelt.
