KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It seems like the high cost of justice, Lady Justice, is giving Kalamazoo County commissioners second thoughts.
The proposal is to install a historic statue of Lady Justice that used to sit on top of the former county courthouse inside the brand new Pratt Justice Center downtown, but then the bill came in.
Administrator Kevin Catlin says the KVCC Museum, which now has the statue, is insisting on preservation and installation that meets their standards.
He says they want it to be a museum quality installation.
Commissioners John Gisler and John Taylor balked at that number.
The statue was donated to the KVCC Museum after it was saved from a World War Two scrap metal drive.
It was suggested that they look for private financing or some other source to reduce that expense, which they plan to do.
