CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A 41-year-old man from Mason was captured in Calhoun County on Wednesday afternoon after he removed his court-ordered tether and fled Ingham County.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says the suspect was on trial for attempted murder.
After Ingham County sent out a “Be on the Lookout” broadcast, a Calhoun County deputy spotted the suspect’s vehicle traveling westbound on I-94 near Old 27 Highway at about 3:15 p.m..
The vehicle continued traveling south on I-69 for about four miles before pulling over near mile marker 28. A felony traffic stop was conducted, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says during the investigation, the suspect was found to be in possession of multiple firearms and body armor. He was turned over to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is pursuing multiple charges, and the investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Detective Bureau.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Marshall Police and Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch.
