KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – 750 area families will be receiving a free Thanksgiving meal delivered right to their home, thanks to Communities In Schools (CIS) of Kalamazoo, in partnership with Gryphon Place, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, New World Flood, SpartanNash, and the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo
CIS organizers says over 100 volunteers have signed up to help unload trucks, pack food for deliveries, and deliver the meals Wednesday, November 27.
Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo Senior Director of Community Engagement and Student Investment, Artrella Cohn says, “Having mission aligned and consistent partners to collaborate with on efforts that center students, and their families is essential to our success. The community partners who are joining us this year for Community Feast are ones whose leadership team believes in surrounding our students and families with a community of support. We are always able to do more and more effectively when we serve together.”
The Thanksgiving meals will be delivered to families identified through Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo (CIS) site coordinators who are working in 23 local Kalamazoo schools. They are provided with a specific number of meal kits available, and in turn, provide a list of families in need of a Thanksgiving meal.
