LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan House Wednesday passed a pair of bills, one sponsored by State Representative Julie Rogers of Kalamazoo, that allow tax credits for research and development expenses.
Rogers says they have the potential for significant technological innovation, job creation and economic development for businesses, with state officials saying the passage of the bills marking a strategic move to position Michigan as a hub for technological innovation and economic growth.
“I am thrilled to have been a part of a package of bipartisan bills to add another tool in the toolbox for Michigan to attract talent,” Rogers said. “My bill aims to add R & D tax credit incentives for small businesses with fewer than 250 employees and fosters an environment to help drive innovation and economic growth amongst many sectors, including life sciences and advanced manufacturing. This package is forward thinking and designed as a starting point to provide support for long-term investment in Michigan companies.”
