KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo City Commissioners will get their first look at proposed water and wastewater rate hikes for 2025 this afternoon.
The proposed numbers haven’t been made available, but they are expected to be high again as the city continues its aggressive efforts to upgrade facilities and replace lead lines.
Commissioners are also expected to approve spending $3.75 million on phase one of upgrades at the Water Street Festival site. It will give the downtown park a major face lift, adding a playground, upgraded electrical facilities, the removal of a foot bridge and construction of a creek side amphitheater, among other things.
The usual Monday night meeting for the City Commission was moved to Tuesday because of the Veterans Day holiday.
