KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One man is dead and a second person was wounded in a shooting late Saturday in Kalamazoo, but now a suspect is in custody.
At approximately 10:25 p.m. officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to reports of shots fired in the 1300 block of Portage Street.
When they arrived they determined that a shooting had occurred in the parking lot of a local business.
Two individuals arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. One victim, 32-year-old Shondale Devon Kellumn of Kalamazoo passed away at the hospital.
The second victim, a 33-year-old Kalamazoo resident, sustained a non-life-threatening injury and has since been released from the hospital.
KDPS says a 43-year-old Kalamazoo man has been arrested in connection with the shooting. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
No information has been released on what led up to the shooting.
