PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Portage Parks & Recreation is accepting submissions for its inaugural Black History Month Local Artist Display.
The display will feature local artists honoring the theme of “Black History Month” or “Black Futures of Portage.”
Submissions can include paintings, photos, prints, mosaics, ceramics, jewelry, sculptures, wood turnings, mixed media, and more.
Artists need to be current residents of Portage and their work needs to comply to one of the two themes.
First place will win a $500 prize, with second place earning $250 and third place winning $100.
The winning artwork will be displayed at Portage City Hall from February 1 to March 30. Applications can be submitted online at mypark.portagemi.gov by November 19 at 5:30 p.m.
Images also need to be at least 300 DPI. Winners will need minimum five works that adhere to the themes.
