KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – As plans are being developed for establishing a new version of the Alma Powell branch of the Kalamazoo Public Library in the Northside neighborhood, library officials are looking for public input.
One town hall was held last night at Northside Association for Community Development and another will be held Monday, November 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Lincoln Elementary School. Representatives from the architecture firm Abonmarche–Byce are providing details of neighborhood surveys and future design possibilities for the branch.
The branch used to be housed at the Douglass Community Association but shut down in January because of new security rules that violated library laws. The plan has been to open a temporary branch at 308 West North Street, but details are still being worked out.
