KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 43-year-old Kalamazoo father will take part in the Kalamazoo Heart Walk on October 26 at Celery Flats in Portage.
Scott Williams collapsed while jogging in his neighborhood last year and was saved by doctors Steve Ray and Paul Berkowitz who were nearby and did CPR until more help arrived.
Williams was in cardiac arrest for 22 minutes and had a heart attack in that time.
He thanked the American Heart Association for training the doctors.
Williams is encouraging people to donate to the American Heart Association to help others.
The Heart Walk on October 26 will follow a paved trail to Portage Creek Bicentennial Park and walkers will have access to water stations there. It is a family friendly event.
